'Hubbing' is a term that is often referred to in conjunction with the GSMA's drive towards 'Open Connectivity'. The initiative aims to give operators a single connection point to the world of roaming by using hubs that facilitate multi-lateral roaming relationships. This highlights a move away from the traditional bi-lateral agreement process and enables mobile operators to establish roaming contracts more rapidly and efficiently.
What benefits are there to 'hubbing'?
By streamlining the process of signing roaming agreements from one-to-one and transferring it to one-to-many, 'hubbing' allows significant cost savings and improved revenue streams in a fraction of the traditional time spent.
